Contact QR code: create a digital business card

A contact QR code contains vCard text, which can include a name, organization, phone, email and website. A compatible scanner may offer to add these fields to the phone’s contacts.

Choose useful contact fields

Enter the details people need for your professional context. Use the name you want saved, a reachable phone number with country code where appropriate, and a current email address. A website field can point to a portfolio or company page.

Several contact fields can live in one vCard code; you do not need a separate QR for each field. More text creates a denser code, however. Preview the content and remove empty, outdated or unnecessary details before you settle on the design.

Review privacy and the receiving device

Anyone who reads the code can obtain the included details. Share another person’s phone, address or other personal information only with permission. A printed card can be photographed or forwarded, so choose information suitable for that audience.

Contact import varies between camera apps, operating systems and address books. Check whether the receiving phone recognizes the name and fields correctly before saving. Keep readable contact text on the card as well, and regenerate the code whenever its stored details change.

Create your code

  1. Select Contact / vCard in the QR tool.
  2. Enter the contact fields you want to share.
  3. Review the encoded details and generate the code.
  4. Scan on another phone and inspect the contact preview.

Frequently asked questions

Does it save a contact automatically?

Usually the device offers a preview or confirmation. The exact behavior depends on its scanner and contacts app.

Can I include several contact details?

Yes. A vCard can contain multiple contact fields. Review all of them, rather than assuming the scanner will ignore unwanted data.

Can I edit a printed contact code?

Its stored vCard text stays fixed. Create a new code after changing the contact details.
